The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, was founded on this day in 1842. While it’s a fine academic institution, it will always be the University of Football in America. For generations it was the face of college football, even though the program has fallen on hard times in recent decades. Not only did Notre Dame urge us to win one for the Gipper, but it also brought us the inspiring underdog story of “Rudy.” RUDY!!!!!!
