Movie-A-Day #293: White Zombie (1932).

Bela Lugosi, one of the icons of horror films, was born on this day in 1882. We’ve already covered his “Dracula” to death here, so today let’s look at “White Zombie” instead. This is the O.G. zombie movie and, along with Val Lewton’s “I Walked With a Zombie,” virtually had the zombie genre to itself until George Romero redefined it in 1968 with “Night of the Living Dead.” Plus, how can you go wrong with Bela in that facial hair, playing a guy named Murder Legendre?
