“The Diary of a Young Girl,” a collection of writings by Jewish teenager Anne Frank, was first published in the Netherlands on this day in 1947. Since then it’s been published in dozens of languages all over the world, providing a devastating look at the human toll of the Holocaust. The film version, starring Millie Perkins and Shelley Winters, is somewhat sanitized but still highly acclaimed.
