Movie-A-Day #44: The Right Stuff (1983).

Chuck Yeager is a badass. Besides being a bona fide war hero, he was also the first pilot to break the sound barrier and still holds all sorts of speed and altitude records. Plus, his achievements helped pave the way for the American space program, as chronicled in the film version of Tom Wolfe’s book “The Right Stuff,” where he was played by Sam Shepard. And the general’s still with us, turning 88 years old today. Well done, sir.
