Happy birthday to bad novelist and huckster extraordinaire L. Ron Hubbard. “Battlefield Earth” seems like a fitting tribute to his legacy – a ridiculously bloated and self-important monstrosity starring a Hollywood icon making himself look foolish without realizing it. The whole thing would be hilarious if the story behind Scientology weren’t so horrible.
