Movie-A-Day #21: Hercules (1958).
January 21, 2011
Happy birthday, Steve Reeves! He was the movie muscleman to end all movie musclemen, and his masterpiece was the first “Hercules” flick. Not only was it Reeves’ finest moment, but this Italian import also kick started the sword and sandal genre that was so popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It’s earned it’s special place in the B-movie heavens.

dear friends i loved the old hercules movies with steve reeves and gordon scott they were the best on the screen then they could pick an channel tcm channel and play all of the hercules films sometime i am sorry but kevin sorbo did not have what it took to be an actor for the hercules films like them two did because for one thing gordon scott made it big with the five tarzan films he made and the mans grand kids to the guy who wrote the story of tarzan book said gordon was thier pick to have ever made the best one for that roll so they will never be able to fill the shoes of them two plusthey both done thier own stunts even with any wild animals. sincerely virginia
